Essential Fatty Acids Acne Treatment

An effective way of consuming more essential fatty acids for acne treatment purposes is to take flax seed oil or flax seeds.

I personally prefer flax seeds because I think the oil tastes rather disgusting.  You could try the flax seed oil capsules so that you can just swallow it over without having to taste the oil.

Sprouted flax seeds are proven to be better than regular flax seeds.

Why is that?

Sprouted flax seed is easier for the body to digest which means it can absorb more nutrients. Sprouting is beneficial because it improves the nutritional value of the seed as the vitamin content is higher.

While freshly sprouted flaxseed may not always be practical, a good alternative is sprouted flaxseed powder. Sprouted flaxseed has advantages over the un-sprouted version, including higher levels of omega-3, enzymes, vitamin B12, and folic acid as well as higher levels of vitamins C and E.  This means there’s extra nutrients for your body which reflects on your skin.

Eating sprouted flax is really good for both men and women.  For women that aren’t taking the contraceptive pill to control their acne, sprouted flax can be a good option. Both flax and the contraceptive pills that are designed for acne both basically do the same thing – they reduce the androgen’s in the body and the sebum production in the skin, meaning less acne.

If you’re female and you’re are thinking of stopping the pill but are worried about an acne attack, this may be something you could try as part of an acne treatment.

An easy way to increase essential fatty acids is to sprinkle ground flax seed on cereals and salads.

Tip: If you’re pregnant or nursing please consult with your doctor or natural therapist before eating flax or taking flax supplements.
