Baking Soda For Acne

You may have come across the advice that baking soda for acne is an effective solution.

When most people hear information like that they usually assume that they should drop all their other skin care treatments and try baking soda.

Acne is best controlled and prevented with a full skin care regime that involves targeting all the possible factors that cause acne.  If you truly want to get rid of acne then there’s no point in targeting one factor like eating healthier but not having a good skin cleansing regime for example.

Here’s what baking soda for acne can do as part of an OVERALL acne treatment plan.

The main benefit of this product is that it is a cheap solution to use as a facial cleanser/exfoliator to achieve smooth skin and reduce redness and swelling … but only when used PROPERLY.

Some acne sufferers make the mistake of using the baking soda directly on their skin without making a paste with water first.

Baking Soda For Acne Tips

Use baking soda not powder.

Smooth over your skin gently, don’t rub hard or it will aggravate your acne and possible cause further break outs.

Depending upon the type of your skin, baking soda can be drying so you should follow up with a moisturizer to prevent flaking and dry skin.

It is common for some people to experience some stinging.  This may be due to the sensitivity of their skin so I’d suggest not leaving the mask on for too long.  Most users recommend leaving it on for 5-15 minutes but you can experiment with this and see what suits your skin best.

How often should you use a baking soda mask?

If you decide to give baking soda for acne a try your probably wondering “should I use it everyday or once a week or …”.  It is best to use this type of mask treatment 2-3 times a week.  If you start to see an improvement in your skin it’s only natural to want to do it everyday but avoid doing this because it will dry out your skin and make matters worse than when you started.
