It's so annoying that there isn't one universal treatment that will cure anyone and everyone's acne - it took me a while to get used to that fact! Life would be so simple if that was the case right?
... As you're probably aware becoming acne free is not that easy!
Don't worry though, the more you try the more knowledgable you become in what works for you skin and what doesn't.
Just think everytime you try a new acne treatment and it doesn't work you are one step closer to finding what does!
The only way to win the fight against acne is experimenting with different treatments ... whether you start with home remedies or over the counter products is up to you. Just have a browse and see what you'd like to start with.
In order to:
- look and feel better
- finally stop being depressed; and
- get back the confidence and self esteem you once had... there are several things you should consider first.
Answering these questions can
greatly reduce the amount of experimentation you need to perform in
order to find the best treatment and finally get that acne free clear
skin you deserve.
Rather than being jealousof those with perfect porcelain skin, let's make people envious of your clear complexion ...
Determining what kind of skin type you have will be a big help in treating your acne problem.
There's a big difference in treating oily skin to treating dry skin, for example, so it really is important to know the skin you're in if you want to be acne free.
Be sure to note whether your skin type changes at different times of the month or year so that you can adapt your regime to suit your skin's condition.
Acne is an umbrella phrase to include all forms of menacing spots. You have blackheads, whiteheads, pus filled pimples and cystic forms of acne which all don't respond to the same treatment.
For mild to moderate problems you might simply need an overnight treatment but for more severe cases you may need a more thorough remedy that may have to be used for several months to see results ...
... Severe forms may even require advanced treatments like laser or photo therapy to treat acne.
The best acne treatments are the ones that not only treat the outside but also the inside! That doesn't mean that one product or remedy can do both, you may experiment and find that you need a combination of treatments to cure the surface of your skin and the inside at the same time.
3. Rule Out A Food Allergy
Another important consideration is to rule out a food allergy. You may be surprised to find out you have one (or several) just like I was!
You're probably thinking "Surely I'd know if I had a food allergy ... wouldn't I have hives or go into anaphylactic shock?" Isn't that what happens to those with food allergies?
I thought it was ... but people with food allergies can experience other symptoms like acne and other skin problems, vomiting and headaches for example.
I found out I was allergic to wheat, soy and rice - some of my friends thought it was funny because I dismissed it for so long shrugging it off with "I'd know if I had a food allergy" ... just goes to show! Needless to say finding this out helped me gain acne free skin a lot quicker.
