Aspirin Acne Treatment Mask

Up until now I’d seen aspirin acne masks mentioned a lot but never thought to give it a try.

Last month I noticed a couple of red inflammations on my nose.  So since I had never tried aspirin for acne I thought I would to let you know my opinion and how the treatment worked for me.
Benefits of the Aspirin Acne Treatment

The idea is that aspirin is an anti-inflammatory so applying crushed aspirin to your face helps reduce inflammation and redness. These masks are also supposed to be helpful in removing blackheads and whiteheads in your pores.

Many people find the aspirin acne treatment useful as part of an overall skin care regime as opposed to being there only treatment so bare that in mind.

If you are experimenting with garlic for acne then many people like to use this acne aspirin mask to soothe and calm any redness that may occur.

Like me, you may have come across lots of different versions of the acne aspirin mask.

Those with oily skin tend to use aspirin and water alone, while others add more ingredients to help heal the skin and retain moisture.

Aspirin is very drying to the skin, so if you have dry skin already then use this mask carefully. The best aspirin mask I came across is detailed below and contains ingredients to make sure it didn’t dry my skin out too much.

Obviously if you are allergic to aspirin you shouldn’t use this even though your not digesting it. If you are allergic to honey, you can still use this method by leaving out the honey ingredient.

Aspirin Acne Method

- Take 2-4 aspirins (non coated preferably)

- Add a few drops of water on the aspirin – not too much or it will become mushy and not as effective. (some people don’t add water so that’s something you can experiment with.)

- If you added the right amount of water, it should start to dissolve on it’s own. If it’s taking too long use fingers … clean fingers …to mix it a little to help it dissolve.

- Add a tablespoon of manuka honey (anti-bacterial) to the aspirin and a squirt of aloe vera (soothing). Mix the solution until the aspirin is coated with the mixture.

- Apply the mixture to your face making sure you stay clear of the eye area. It’s a bit messy applying this mask as it drips off your fingers, just make sure you’re over the sink or a basin.

- Leave the aspirin mask to sit on your skin for 10 – 30 minutes.

After 10 minutes, wash the mask off your face. As you are washing it off, make use of the grainy pieces of the aspirin and exfoliate your skin. This will get the dead skin cells off your face and your skin will feel refreshed. Your skin will feel so soft!  Make sure that you don’t exfoliate active pimples though because it can spread the bacteria

Some people like to apply toner to remove any impurities left by the aspirin mask.  It also reduces pore size which makes them less like to become clogged.

Finish of by applying a  moisturiser.  If you do not use toner, move straight to this step

Tip: Don’t start off doing this every day.  Try it may once every few days or every other day otherwise your skin may become dry. Once you’ve tested it, you know your skin best so if you can use it everyday then go for it.

How Effective Is The Aspirin Mask Treatment?

Well, it did help reduce the redness and the acne I had didn’t look as noticeable and angry but it didn’t help clear the few whiteheads and blackheads that I had.

I wouldn’t use the aspirin mask again as the results are only temporary and it’s not as beneficial for your skin as a completely natural solution.

The best use for the acne aspirin mask is if you want to reduce the inflammation and redness of a spot for a few hours.
